Five female college students in Maine jumped to the aid of a fellow student being attacked by a knife wielding assailant. One of the five women had recently completed a self defense class and knew the right pressure points to cause the perp to drop the knife.
Two keys to Success in this situation were:
- Knowing what to do – the girls knew stepping in to help was what was required (and one had recent training)
- Doing what you know – wanting to get involved and being trained are great, but without taking action, are useless. The girls overcame their initial fear and jumped in, preventing what could have been a fatal attack.
