The best away to avoid campus crime and not become a statistic is to know when to walk away.
The statistics are alarming, 1 out of 4 college students will be the victim of a crime during their enrollment.
That doesn’t have to be you.
While the purpose of Protect and Defend Inc is to help you protect yourself first, it’s also about empowering you to defend yourself (and others) if necessary.
Sometimes the hardest thing to do to prevent a crime is nothing.
Nothing in terms of ‘not engaging.’
Be aware of your surrounding, travel in groups and remain vigilant… and don’t be afraid to walk away.
In TaeKwonDo, I learned “the best kick… is no kick. The best punch… is no punch.”
The same with you, the best defense, is no defense, because you walked away.
Remember, your job is not to become a statistic. It’s not to be the hero, success in self-defense is avoiding the situation altogether.
That’s why all the training and knowledge you acquire for your own self-defense and efforts to avoid campus crime are so important.
Research shows the more time and energy you spend preparing, the less likely you’ll need it. This boils down to 2 elements; Mastery and Mindset.
Mastery is your developed skill in self-defense strategies.
Mindset is the attitude you hold about yourself and your ability to avoid, protect and, if necessary, defend yourself in any situation.
Together, these two create the necessary ingredients to avoid campus crime and the unpleasant consequences that follow.
