Let’s teach our school kids self defense like they do in China.
When I read the news in the US, the focus continues to be on passing new laws. But, passing new laws is usually a bad idea, here’s why:
- New laws do not prevent crime, but they do add to the bureaucratic requirements of schools and other organizations that have to keep track of all new record keeping requirements.
- New laws do not do anything to empower or educate potential victims
There are already tens of thousands of laws. You could charge each of us with a crime each day (Read “Three Felonies a Day“), but that doesn’t stop people from committing crime…. Passion all these new laws only empowers the government to further reduce our freedoms and control us.
True protection from crime comes from the potential victim by 1) being aware of potentially dangerous situations, 2) avoiding potentially dangerous situations, 3) defending themselves in a dangerous situation.
